I think I might have to replace my cutting mats soon (I've made 60 chipboard buttons on it ) It is starting to make a cracking noise and is pretty scratched up (both of them ) I'm flipping them around a whole bunch so that both are getting scratched up and not just the one.

When do you replace the mats?

I see no reason to change the mats unless they break or stop working, just my opinion because I really don't know the answer. My plates are pretty scratched up too but they work fine, and sometimes hear that cracking noise too. But out of curiosity, which die did you use to make the buttons? I really want to make some but I don't have a circle punch.

Mine are pretty scratched up but I would keep using them until they don't emboss or cut properly.

I think you need to replace them if they stop working...

Mine look horrible and are like a banana almost... but still work fine and cut okay...

I still haven't replaced mine. But a friend of mine who uses her's a whole lot more doesn't change them until one breaks for if the cuts don't come out clean.
HTH!

Mine make that noise a lot when I'm cutting chipboard or something thick. I think it's normal!

My B plate got big time marked up while it made cracking-like noises here & there as I used it. But then one time there was a definite CRACK sound as it went through and actual cracks appeared (like on a car windshield) and so now I've decided to replace it as soon as I get my hand on a coupon.

Mine are scratched/cut/bent/noisy...LOL! No replacing here until it doesn't work properly.

I'd like to know about the die for buttons as well! How fun!!

I used the Cuttlebug 4 pack postage stamp dies (there the ones that look like postage stamps, One has a circle that was awesome for doing buttons)

You probably don't need to replace them until they break. After cutting about 40 chipboard bookplates, mine started making this cracking noise every time I use it but it works fine.

Mine craked about 3/4 the way down but, it was nothing a little duct tape couldn't fix. I should probaly replace it but, as long as it still works I'm fine with it.
