OK, I'm going to risk it and ask what might sound like a really dumb question so here goes..... What is a ATC Card and what is it purpose, I see the ATC Holder from 7gypsies and I love it but don't know what you do with it? Can someone take pity and enlighten me! Please......

That is not at all a dumb question, there are so many crazy acronyms that fly around here it can make your head spin:)
ATC is Artist Trading Card, and there are a ton of swaps that go on here (I haven't ever done one, but they seem like fun)

ooooh ATCs are so fun....& like sonja said ATC stands for Artist Trading Card
i really like them b/c you can really experiment & try something new w/ them...they are only like 2 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches after all.... totally not overwhelming & kind of freeing to be honest...you can just let loose & play a bit w/ all those cool supplies we all have :)
& the 7 gypsies card holder....i LOVE mine...& what i do with mine is when i'm in a creative rut or just want to play around w/ my supplies w/o doing a full on project i just pull out a card from the holder & get to work...i also get some from friends & pop them in there...really a smile maker right on top of my desk :)
i've also seen people do themes w/ them...like the holder would hold pictures of their family & some fun journaling & they kept it out on the coffee table....& i think ali edwards used hers to do a christmas theme w/ the poem "the night before christmas"

An ATC was traditionally used as a "business" card for artists. When artists would meet each other, they would trade these cards they had painted/designed/decorated on one side and had their contact info on the other. The cards are 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" in size {roughly the size of a playing card} and can be decorated any way you see fit. They are like mini canvases and I call them "little pieces of art", each one unique! They are a great way to experiment, use your scraps and have fun creating! I have the 7 Gypsies ATC holder and what it does is hold your ATC cards and rotate so you can spin it and look at all your cards. It is sold with some manilla colored ATC size cards you can decorate or as I have done, I simply have clipped my swapped ATCs onto the manilla cards. Any more questions feel free to ask. There are lots of swap always on-going here so try one out! If you like I'd be happy to send you a card! Just let me know!

Ali Edwards did a very cool ATC Spinner with the night before xmas theme. I am doing the same thing for each season. Right now I am working on Valentines Day and trying to pic out my sonnets. I don't normally swap my atc.

ATCs are fun...I just participated in my first swap here on SIS and I'm waiting to get my set back.
I'm doing some daily cards too. I'll just pull out a card (I'm using some playing cards I got 2 packs for a dollar) and go to work. I'll use scraps laying around, stuff I found in the mail or mags, paint, staples, whatever. it's a smaller workspace compared to a layout, but they're fun to do.
I'd say yes to your question robin...if she sends you one, you can send her one back! that's how you start your collection!

I have not started ATC's either (yet), but have stumbled upon some amazing cards. My fav so far has been from www.faithsisters.com. They are doing one that will contain 52 cards. Each week a new word is being introduced that you are being challenged to scrap onto a card. Words like; faith, kindness, beauty, wait, change, peace and glad. I have found some people do the 7 Gypsies, others use playing cards, others use Roladex cards. I've been looking for the 7G's but haven't found it locally yet-I may just have to break down and order it online. So it seems you can do this as a trade or your own personal project by theme. B-T-W, it took me forever to figure out what ATC meant too!

OK, I finally bought the 7gypsies revolving ATC holder online and the stand seems a little wobbly - does anyone have one of these and is that supposed to do that? It really is bugging me and I'm not sure if it "supposed" to be like that! If not, I will return it, thanks for any advice! Robin~
